Luis Enrique Camejo (born January 19, 1971 in Pinar del Río) is a Cuban contemporary painter who won several prizes, including the First Place Prize in the V Painting Contest Nicomedes García Gomez in 2003. He lives and works in Havana today.
In his paintings light is the protagonist of his work. It is the element that composes and amends the rarefied atmospheres of his landscapes, whose images seem to have, in most cases, a special relationship with the aesthetics of the American film noir.
His drawings design the anatomy of the common spaces, although sometimes the stain is emancipated and takes over the pictorial area.
Camejo uses light and curved strokes, continuous blasting, premeditated resources to deteriorate the sharpness of his images.
In his paintings his cities are always convulsive, they do not encourage us to rest, but they invite us to have a nomadic life in the immense urban jungle.
