Some Habits Have No Purpose

‘Some Habits Have No Purpose’ is part of the Alexithymia series, which explores thoughts, sensations, feelings, behaviors, concerns, and obsessions. It is the search for the recognition of emotions and their expression, non-verbally, through shapes, semi-calligraphic strokes, colors and textures.

The works are executed on paper, and in them I play with negative spaces using materials such as acrylics, watercolors, pastels, markers, makeup, tea stains, scraps of paper and fabric, among other things. It is a visual cacophony that I intend to make sense of.

Armando Guillén

Armando Guillén Moreno was born in Panama City on October 1, 1990, and is a lawyer. With a deep interest in the arts and being self-taught, he began to paint steadily in his adolescence, first focusing on the oil technique and later on acrylic and mixed media, nurturing his knowledge from reading books and essays on Art History and Appreciation of Art. In addition, he learned about the composition of pigments used in painting because of his curiosity about chemistry.

Currently, he develops his artistic work with a reductionist approach, taking as a starting point the analysis of complex ideas, keeping only what is essential, and forming his color palette based on these elements.
